I Am Looking For

Sixth Formers Start Building a New Centre

Retiring Captain Nick Fairclough of Bolton School Boys' Division Sixth Form and new Head Girl, Heather Harrison, of the Girls' Division Sixth Form "cut the first sod" as work began on the construction of a new £7m Sixth Form Centre in the heart of the Bolton School campus.

Staff from across the campus gathered to watch the symbolic cutting of the turf on the last day of term.  Work will now begin in earnest for G & J Seddon on the new centre, designed by Cassidy and Ashton. The state-of-the-art centre will take a year to complete and will be ready for Sixth Formers in September 2013.

The new centre will be shared by over 400 girls and boys and will include an ICT suite, seminar rooms for project work and tutorial sessions, quiet study areas, a common room, a refectory café area, exhibition space and the main school reception. Students will continue to receive single sex lessons and will thus benefit from the best of both worlds.

Thanks to the generosity of the Bolton School community, including our former pupils, parents and friends, we have already raised over £2.4m towards the Centre.  Your support is very much appreciated, and your gifts will provide a lasting legacy for future Sixth Form pupils at Bolton School.

The new Sixth Form Centre is going to be an excellent addition to the School campus and provide a real benefit to our pupils. There are several key naming opportunities available within the development - if you are interested in finding out about these or about how you can support this venture , please contact Julia Bates our Head of External Relations on (01204) 434 718 or jbates@boltonschool.org.
