Building 'Junk' Robots

Thursday, 19 November 2015

Beech House Infant School welcomed local artist David Shuttleworth of Big Bang Creations for a special art workshop.

Working with Year 2 pupils, he and the children recycled domestic waste items – cardboard boxes, empty bottles, used packaging, old CDs and more – to create a fantastic set of sculptures. The theme for the artwork was robots and by the end of the session the pupils had created a whole family!

The children really enjoyed creating something new and inspiring out of things they would normally throw away. As well as stretching the children’s creative skills, the session also helped them to appreciate the importance of reusing and recycling waste items.
