"The classic Bolton School combination is hard work, good friends, challenging and thought-provoking teaching, a healthy desire to puncture the self-important and the sense that you can work hard to achieve things in life. "

Christmas Presents from Beech House Children

Friday, 06 December 2013

Bolton School Infants have been collecting toys which will be distributed to under-privileged children in the Bolton area, to help make their Christmas special.

Bolton Lions coordinate the collection from local schools, churches and health authorities and make up sacks for children who would otherwise go without on Christmas Day. Last year they gave out over 900 sacks of presents. Each sack contains 4 or 5 items, including a game, a cuddly toy, a jigsaw, books and craft items.

Bill Laithwaite from Bolton Lions said: “Bolton School Infants’ School is one of our biggest collection points. The vast array of toys and gifts that the pupils and their parents donate are key to our caring Christmas appeal.

The Christmas appeal started over 30 years ago now, and for the last 15 years the toy collection has grown beyond our wildest dreams. This time of year is so busy for us, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Bill and his wife Pam along with another 8 volunteers start collecting in mid-November and pack the sacks in their warehouse right up until Christmas Eve.
