A large audience of parents, grandparents, siblings and family members gathered on the sports field for the Year 1 and Year 2 Sports Day. They cheered on the children as they took a variety of sporting activities.
Competing as part of the red, green, blue, yellow, black or white teams, pupils enjoyed giant egg and spoon races, throwing tennis balls at the wickets, long jump and standing long jump, sprint races, throwing the howler for distance, a four-minute running challenge, throwing bean-bag balls into target nets, sack races and a football skills game. After a short break for a drink and snack, the Sports Day ended with dramatic sprint finals on the 60-metre track.
All of the Year 2 children competed as different countries in their sprint final races, and in Year 1 six boys and six girls also raced. The children who reached the main finals received medals for first, second and third place.
At the end of the afternoon, the yellow team were declared the winners of the Year 1 and Year 2 Sports Day and were presented with the trophy.
Many parents joined in the Sports Day fun and took part in a foam javelin throwing competition, with the winners also receiving medals!
The following afternoon, the Reception children enjoyed their Sports Day with each class splitting into four teams for the event. The children had lots of fun taking part in sporting activities, and were given great support by their cheering parents and families.
Girls’ and Boys’ Division pupils assisted with running the various activities for the Beech House children and helped to relay scores.
