The whole of Beech House, Bolton School’s Infant School, enjoyed an end of term treat when the Takeaway Theatre Company performed the classic tale Wind in the Willows.
Children were delighted by the three-person show that brought to life the irrepressible Mr Toad and his long-suffering companions Ratty, Mole and Badger. Through music, puppetry and drama, the cast told the tale of how Mole is ingratiated into the delights of “messing about on the river” with Ratty and then how they and Badger are drawn into Toad’s motor car and “life on the open road” obsession which ultimately sees him imprisoned after yet another crash. Whilst incorporating modern references such as Minecraft, the soap opera Neighbours and pub quizzes, the high energy adaptation of the timeless tale captivated the young audience.
