"Bravo to all at the School, and heartiest thanks for their genuine devotion to our children and their futures. If there were to be one example for all schools to be modelled upon, Bolton School would be the natural choice."

£3,000 for Red Cross Tsunami Appeal

Monday, 27 June 2011

Bolton School Junior Boys presented a cheque for £3, 000 to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal, raised through their Annual Charity Fun Run and a Dress in Red Day.

Jackie Pickersgill, Community Fundraiser for the Red Cross, came to collect the cheque and gave a presentation in assembly, showing the boys how their money will be used to benefit those affected by the disaster.

The amount being donated is half the proceeds from the charity fun run and also money raised when the whole school came together for a wear red day. The charity is particularly close to home for the School because of the Makino family who have two boys, Eichi and Jei, in the Junior Boys' School and a boy and girl, Kei and Ai, in the Infant School. Mrs Makino used to live in the Sendai province, which was one of the worst hit areas and where she still has friends.
