Earlier in the summer, Year 6 pupil at Bolton School Boys’ Junior School, Alex Bowen-Heaton, helped Team Europe overcome the USA to win the Styal Junior Ryder Cup. Alex won his individual match in the 8-16 year old category.

Alex is a keen golfer and belongs to three clubs – Styal and Leigh and also at Conwy, where the family regularly holidays. Last year, the prodigious talent won the U17s' Styal Par 3 Junior competition and the Leigh Golf Junior 18 Hole competition three times! Alex became inspired to play golf after playing crazy golf when he was just four years of age!  He now looks forward to more competitions in Styal and Leigh over the coming months before going on a winter golf coaching programme from November to March. He also looks forward to playing golf at the Senior School, where he hopes to represent the School.
