Tuesday, 19 May 2015

Bolton School U11s’ football team has won the Association of Junior Independent Schools’ (AJIS) Cup for the second time in the last four years.  The boys overcame Rossall School 4-3 in a tight final held at Westholme School.  Lucas Davies scored twice and Harry Forshaw and Sam Olawumi also netted in a game that Bolton edged.  Having gone 2-0 up, the Fleetwood School clawed their way back into the game to make it 2-2; Bolton then pulled away to 4-2 before Rossall pulled one goal back.

Bolton School made it to the final, having overcome Bridgewater School 6-1, Westholme 6-0 and St Bede’s in the semi-final, 4-3.

The School last won the trophy in 2012 and also won it 4 times back in the 1990s.

The AJIS North-West region includes over 30 independent schools from an area encompassing Fleetwood in the North, Rishworth in the East, Newcastle-Under-Lyme in the South and Birkenhead in the West.
