Boys Display Landscape Paintings for Parents
Thursday, 29 January 2015
The Year 6 boys put on their annual art exhibition for parents, family and friends in the Arts Centre. Four boys from the Art Committee took charge of organising the display, including booking the room and arranging refreshments for guests. Thomas Martin, Sam Olawumi, Arsh Patankar, and James Roberts also helped families to find their son’s painting.
All of the Year 6 pupils had artwork on display, with a range of scenes from mountainous forests to peaceful lakes, storm seascapes to country roads, and many more. The bold use of confident brush-stokes and vibrant colours brought the images to life. The paintings were very accomplished, and all the more impressive given that the artists are just ten and eleven years old!
The boys created the acrylic landscape paintings as part of the Year 6 art curriculum. They chose an image to paint, and were taught various techniques by Mr Dickinson, the specialist Art, Design and Technology teacher at the Junior Boys’ School.
As in previous years, the paintings will go on display in the Market Place in Bolton from Monday. However, this preview exhibition in the Arts Centre gave parents and family a sneak-peek of what will be enjoyed by the general public in the weeks to come.
