Boys in National Biathlon Final

Both the Junior and Senior School boys met with success this weekend at the Northern Semi Final of the English Schools' Biathlon event held in Macclesfield.
The Junior boys took part in a 500m running race and a 50m swimming race, while the Senior boys swam 100m and ran 1000m. An outstanding team effort from the Year 6 boys meant they finished first overall and automatically qualify for the National final in London in March. Harvey Haworth did exceptionally well to finish 3rd, Harrison Barker-Smith came in 13th position and Guy Haworth made 19th. The Year 5 team also enjoyed success finishing in 3nd place overall in their age group. Robert Aldred achieved an overall placing of 26th, George Speak took 29th spot and Jamie Price gained 32nd position.
For the seniors, the Year 7 boys' A team recorded a 2nd place team finish and individually, Andrew Lee placed 7th, Ben Riding 8th, and Tom Heatherington 19th. The B team were placed 5th overall with David Price coming 20th, Tom Bolton 32nd and Ali Khan 41st. There were also some outstanding individual performances in other year groups which saw Bolton School claim 7th position in the Year 8 competition (Matthew Martin), 3rd (Andrew Keat) and 15th (Isaac Scott) in the Year 10 competition and first place (Oliver Walker) in the Year 11 competition. Andrew Keat and Oliver Walker will qualify automatically for the final and the rest of the boys will wait to find out who has made it through.
