Boys Perform at Confucius Institute Tenth Anniversary
Tuesday, 08 November 2016
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Confucius Institute in Manchester. Last year the Junior Boys’ School achieved Confucius Classroom status, and so the school was invited to take part in the anniversary celebrations at the University of Manchester alongside the two other Confucius Classroom schools.
Year 6 pupils Joseph Carolan, Kiran Sastry and Vibhav Sugumar performed Kuai Ban along with Mr Zhang in front of English and Chinese dignitaries. This unique folk art involves storytellers accompanying their vocal performance with the rhythmic sound of bamboo clappers.
After the school performances and speeches there was discussion and a question and answer session with television and radio presenters Michael Wood and Rana Miller about The Media Representation of China.
