"Recently I won the Mensa Child Genius Competition and I believe that it was possible because of the academic skills and the skills to perform in front of an audience and to keep calm under pressure that I acquired at Hesketh House."

Boys Raise Thousands for Help for Heroes

Monday, 19 September 2011

Bolton School Junior Boys presented a cheque for £2389.87 to the Help for Heroes Appeal, raised through their Annual Charity Fun Run in May.

Arthur Roe from Help for Heroes came to collect the cheque and gave a presentation in assembly, showing the boys how their money will be used to provide practical, direct support for wounded Servicemen and women. Help for Heroes strives towards 100% effectiveness - so for every £1 donated, £1 goes directly to helping the wounded.

The amount being donated is half the proceeds from the charity fun run when the boys dressed in an array of colourful fancy dress and ran around the Senior School field for 40 minutes. The annual fundraiser is the main charity event for the Junior boys and they all worked hard to raise their sponsorship and to complete the run. The other half of the money raised went to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.
