Cross Country Success for Junior Boys

Tuesday, 18 March 2014

Boys from all year groups (Years 3 to 6) at Park Road, the Junior School of Bolton School Boys’ Division, have recorded great success in recent local cross country events.

Tuesday 18 March saw the boys compete in muddy, cold and generally miserable conditions at the Bolton Primary Schools’ Cross Country Championships. Both the Year 5 and the Year 3/4 team won their races. All boys ran superbly but a special mention goes to the top four runners of each team whose highly placed finishes contributed to the overall victories. In the Year 5/6 race Matthew Mair (4th), Samuel Olawumi (5th), Benjamin Clarkson (9th) and Sebastian Schofield (21st) were the top 4 Bolton School achievers; in the Year 3/4 race Thomas Darbyshire (1st), Benjamin Male (3rd), Laurence Britton (5th) and Luca Latona (6th) were the best placed runners.

One week earlier and parents had cheered on their boys on a sunny afternoon at Moss Bank Park as the boys took part in the Bolton Primary Schools’ Cross Country Fun Run. Year 5 boy Matthew Mair was the first Bolton School boy home in the Year 5/6 race and Thomas Darbyshire of Year 4 was the first in the Year 3/4 race.  Congratulations also went to: Year 5 boys, Ben Clarkson, Sebastian Schofield and Alastair Harris; Year 4’s Laurence Britton; and Year 3 boys Cole Gallagher and Ollie McCann.
