Cub Scout Award for Egan

Egan Moore, a Y5 pupil at Bolton School Boys’ Division Junior School and a member of the 19th Bolton (Bolton School) Scout Group, has been awarded the LHP James Cup for outstanding individual Cub Scout Achievement. Egan was nominated to receive the cup by his Cub Leaders after working tirelessly during the first lockdown to gain all his activity badges.

Headteacher Mrs Faulkner said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement as it is quite unusual for a Cub to gain all his activity badges. Well done Egan. I know many boys are very excited for the Pack to get going again with face to face activities really soon.’

Egan is now well on his way to achieving his Chief Scout Silver Award: the highest level that can be earned as a Cub.

As the different sections haven't been able to meet in person during the last twelve months, there have been some creative Zoom sessions: Taskmaster; mug cakes; qigong; an interview with an adapted car driver; even a virtual Cub Camp.

The 19th Bolton Group is a closed Group, which only allows boys and girls from Bolton School to join. Its popularity means the Pack is so large that it has to meet on two evenings each week. The 19th Bolton School Scout HQ also plays host to a Beaver Colony, a Scout Group and an Explorer Unit, the last of which is open to young people from both School and outside. Established in 1915, the Scout Troop is now into its second century of scouting!
