Double Cheque Handover from Junior Boys
Monday, 29 June 2015
Junior Boys at Bolton School could not decide between two good causes so in the end decided to split the money raised through their fancy dress fun run between Cancer Research UK and Derian House. The money – an amazing £5,653.10 – had been raised earlier in the summer when the boys had donned fancy dress outfits to run in pairs around the Senior School playing fields cheered on by their parents.
Representatives from the two charities spoke to the boys in their assembly. John Rullo, Community Fundraiser at Derian House, told the pupils how their aim is to make the lives of the 250 young people with life-limiting conditions that make use of the children’s hospice that little bit better. Jim Hall, Chairman of the Turton Fundraising Committee for Cancer Research UK, told the boys that there had been great progress in the last 20 years in trying to eradicate cancer and that their donation would hopefully make cancer a thing of the past by the time the boys have grown up.
