Jazz Band Entertains Park Road Boys

The 12-strong Joint Jazz Band from Bolton School's Senior Schools was the featured ensemble at this Wednesday's lunchtime concert at the Junior Boys' School. It was pleasing to see two former Park Road pupils, Laurence Britton and Thomas Norrington-Moore, in the line-up, and nice to welcome Mr Spooner, the band’s director, to Park Road.

The appreciative audience was treated to some really entertaining music, namely “Basin Street Blues”, “Shake, Rattle and Roll”, “Mercy, Mercy” and “Born to be Wild”. Mr Spooner talked to the boys about the various instruments featured, in particular the alto saxophone and the trombone. He was impressed by the knowledge of the Park Road boys and they really enjoyed the experience.
