Junior Boys in Fancy Dress Fun Run

Friday, 22 May 2015

Loud cheering, a riot of colour and leaden skies means it must be the Junior Boys’ Fun Run on the Levels of Bolton School!

Two hundred boys from Years 3 to 6 and members of staff donned a startling variety of outfits as they ran in pair relays around the running track whilst raising funds for the charities Derian House Children’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

The annual fun run is the Junior Boys’ main charity event of the year and typically raises thousands of pounds. This year saw the boys in a wide range of costumes – lots of animals, football players, the ever popular ‘118’ twins, pirates, members of the armed forces, super-heroes and gangsters as well as fruit and vegetables, Sumo wrestlers, a Rubik Cube and even a pair of Bolton School Junior Girls! They were joined by new Headmistress Mrs Faulkner, who was dressed as a carrot and her partner for the race Mrs Hick, who was a rabbit. A large gathering of parents cheered the boys on throughout the afternoon.

The boys will collect their sponsorship money over the next few weeks before presenting their chosen charities with large cheques.
