This week, the annual Park Road Music Festival took place, with many boys taking part either as performers or members of the audience. Parents and grandparents were also invited to attend, which gave the two-day event a really special feel.
There was a great deal of talent on display, and a wide variety of musical instruments and styles to enjoy. With piano, strings, woodwind, brass, guitar, recorder and vocal solo classes, as well as an ensemble class to finish, there was a space in which all of the young musicians could shine.
The competition was adjudicated by Mr Richard Eastham, who had the tough job of selecting winners in each category. He also chose the overall winner, and this year awarded the trophy to Year 6 pupil Anuj Mishra.
Headmaster Stephen Whittaker said, “The Music Festival has again been a superb event, encapsulating all that is wonderful in children's performance of music. The individual performances and ensemble groups have been of high quality and the school has had a feel of real celebration of one another's talents.”
