The Junior Boys dressed as their favourite book characters from the worlds of fiction and non-fiction on World Book Day this year. Amongst the crowds of literary figures flooding Park Road there were a huge number of Harry Potters, several Gangsta Grannies, Willy Wonkas and Horrid Henrys, and even sightings of Frodo Baggins, Sherlock Holmes and the BFG!

Members of staff dressed up as well, and during morning assembly and throughout the day they shared their favourite childhood stories with pupils.

At lunchtime, a book-themed scavenger hunt around school, set by Mr Franklin as Gandalf, proved very popular with the boys.  Mrs Whittaker even helped to transport characters back inside their stories for photos with a little help from the Park Road green screen!

Other parts of the School also got into the World Book Day spirit. Nursery children and Junior and Senior Girls dressed up as their favourite characters as well. Senior Boys hunted for ‘Not Lost, Found!’ books that had been hidden around school and enjoyed a ‘reading only’ lunchtime in the library. The libraries in both Divisions of the Senior School hosted lunchtime quizzes themed around literature.
