During the Easter holidays over 30 Year 5 and Year 6 boys from Bolton School Junior School travelled to Alpe d'Huez in the French Alps to learn to ski or improve their skiing.
Ten boys had never skied before and soon made excellent progress with the ESF Ski School, venturing onto more complex slopes every day.
For some boys it was their first time away from home for more than a couple of nights and parents were kept informed of the daily activities through a very popular blog diary.
After a week of 4 hours of skiing lessons a day the boys returned tired but full of stories of their exciting week.
Year 5 pupil Sebastian Schofield wrote about the trip:
“I really enjoyed the ski trip to L’Alpe d’Huez. It was great to a ski with all my friends. Each day we skied in small groups with our instructor. In the evening we were all together to do fun activities like the Karaoke Night and eating crepes. I enjoyed the bum boarding the best. We could play pool, watch football and also go out to the shops to spend our Euros on souvenirs and sweets. One day we went up to the top of Le Pic Blanc in the cable-car and skied off the top. The days were very tiring and it was hard to get up in the morning, but I had a really good time.”
