Bolton School Junior Boys
Park Road Parents' Association
The Park Road Parents’ Association (PA) is open to all parents of boys at Park Road. Its main aims are to:
- Foster and support the welfare of the school
- Encourage involvement of parents and families in school life
- Organise relaxed and memorable social events for Park Road families
- Provide information for parents
We are always looking for new members and ideas. Becoming involved with the PA is an ideal opportunity for parents to become more involved in school life, to meet and to get to know other parents and to help raise money to fund those little extras that enhance life at school for your children.
The Christmas Fair is the largest event of the year and takes place in the Senior Boys’ Great Hall. It is a magical evening with lots of stalls and activities for both adults and children to enjoy. The annual Family Quiz and other social events, such as Race Night, are a great way for families to get together and enjoy themselves.
The PA also organises a range of events in school, including sports day refreshments, a book exchange, breakfast club, stewarding for parents’ evenings, outgrown uniform sales and regular Bag2School collections. Cookery Club runs weekly after school and is very popular with the boys.
The voluntary annual subscription of £12 per pupil is used to respond to the Teachers' Wish List. Requests for funding for non-core items are submitted to the Committee, who decide which projects will be supported.
From our fundraising activities we have provided the school with a range of items and experiences which enhance the curriculum and are thoroughly enjoyed by those involved. Recent purchases include developing the outdoor classroom area, digital cameras and Photoshop software, a refit of the cooking area of the science room, artwork and murals around the school and a beautifully carved totem pole in the playground.
Information about PA events and meetings is included in the weekly school newsletter and on the noticeboard in the car park. All parents are welcome at any or all meetings and all offers of support, however small, are very valuable.
