"The classic Bolton School combination is hard work, good friends, challenging and thought-provoking teaching, a healthy desire to puncture the self-important and the sense that you can work hard to achieve things in life. "

The Junior Girls’ School launched the annual photography competition before the Easter break. The girls were asked to submit photos on their return to school based on the theme ‘My Favourite View’. All of the entries have been on display outside the main hall at Hesketh House and they have now been judged by Old Boy and local freelance photographer, Mark Power.

“First impressions were superb,” commented Mark. “A beautifully presented display of well-mounted photos in a prominent place in school, for both pupils and visitors to admire.”

With nearly 50 titled images to choose from, selecting a winner in each of the four year groups wasn’t easy. The overall winner was a very narrow decision. And the winner is...? Well, that will remain a secret until the end of term. All will be revealed then.

“Congratulations to all the entrants,” said Mark. “The standard of photos entered is improving year on year, but what is really endearing is the enthusiasm shown by all the girls. The questions they ask show a real interest. I feel like a real celebrity being mobbed by the girls ... it’s great fun!”
