Bolton School's Junior Girls have become Town Champions in the Bolton Cross Country League! This is the latest in a string of cross country successes for the school.

Over the past three weeks, more than 1,000 pupils from 35 primary schools took part in the Bolton League competition, which was organised by Bolton School's sports department. The Junior Girls achieved a score of 101 to win overall. The Junior Boys also took second place in the boys' League competition.

In addition, the Bolton Cross Country Championship took place last week with impressive efforts from all the Junior Girls who took part. There was no team competition, but pupils were running for individual medals and the chance to represent Bolton at the Greater Manchester championships. Four girls finished in the top ten, with Beatrix Soper winning first place! Five girls went ahead to join the Bolton Town Team based on their performance: well done to Beatrix, Florence Kenny (5th), Willow Greer (8th), Caitlin Roebuck (10th) and Georgine Stubbs (16th).

Back in September, two teams competed in the AJIS Cross Country competition. They travelled to Rossall School where they faced a tricky course in challenging windy conditions. Nonetheless, the Year 6 team emerged victorious: Beatrix once again won the race and all five scoring runners finished in the top twenty! This gave a stunning team score of 36 and meant gold medals for everyone. The team was very proud to bring the AJIS Shield home.
