Easter Treats at Hesketh House Spring Fair
Saturday, 05 April 2014
In spite of inclement weather, the Hesketh House Spring Fair bought a smile to every face.
Outside on the playground, there was a tempting aroma coming from the sizzling barbeque and the freshly made wood-fired pizzas. Indoors there was plenty to do, including a ‘Play Your Cards Right’ game, a ‘Guess the Teacher’ competition featuring childhood photos of the staff, and a ‘Guess the Weight of the Cake’ competition. Even the cake fitted the theme: it was topped with a fondant Junior Girls' School pupil!
Stalls filled the Hesketh House hall, selling any number of treats and gifts. As well as sweets and ice-cream, parents and pupils could buy books, cards for all occasions, jams and preserves, plants for the garden, and much more! There were even brightly coloured - and tightly sealed - mystery goodie bags, for those who wanted a surprise.
Bakers had been hard at work, supplying the cake stalls with plenty of home-made delights: with fairy cakes, slices of sponge cake, and cookies on offer, there was something for everyone. There was also a distinct Easter theme to the Spring Fair, with miniature chicks ‘nesting’ on the fairy cakes, stalls selling knitted chicks and Easter baskets, and plenty of mini-eggs around.
With Boys' Division Senior School band The Parallel Oreos to provide entertainment, there was a great atmosphere for the whole of the Spring Fair.
As the weather improved, the Junior Girls were even able to dance around the Maypole! You can watch a short video of their dance here.
