Outdoor Learning Day is a chance for Junior Girls in Year 3 to discover outdoor pursuits in a familiar environment. The whole year group took part in a carousel of exciting activities.

Different activities on the school field challenged the girls’ teamwork skills, required them to communicate effectively and follow instructions, and tested their ability to organise and execute a plan. Whether they were instructing their blindfolded friends on which way to go, or collecting priceless space-rocks (tennis balls) without touching the hostile surface of a planet (the grass), there was lots of fun to be had.

An orienteering challenge introduced pupils to simple map-reading and asked them to find a series of locations around Hesketh House and the school field. They were also asked to go on a scavenger hunt, collecting an item for each letter of the alphabet, with bonus points for creativity and humour!

Outdoor Learning Day helps to prepare girls for their residential trips to Patterdale Hall in Years 4 to 6, where they take part in a wider range of outdoor pursuits activities.
