Girls Build Miniature Victorian Fairground
Wednesday, 02 April 2014
For the past six weeks, the Year 6 girls have been working together to design and create miniature fairground rides based on the theme of Victorian entertainment.
Miss Langley, Head of Resistant Materials in the Girls' Senior School, visited Hesketh House to lead the girls through the process. The project was inspired by the WOW Factor, associated with the Learning Challenge Curriculum, and has secured an essential connection between Key Stages 2 and 3. This will serve the girls well once they transfer to Year 7.
The opportunity to try something different was also a big hit with the pupils! They really enjoyed working in enterprising teams and developing new skills as they put together their working models of the fairground rides.
You can watch a video of the girls' working models on YouTube: here.
