Girls Captivated by Major General's Talk

Friday, 14 September 2012

Year 6 girls had the privilege to listen to an inspiring talk about war from retired soldier and author Major General Ian Cardozo from New Delhi. His granddaughter, Anita, a Year 6 pupil at Bolton School Girls' Division Junior School, had invited him in for the morning.

Major General Cardozo served with the Gurkhas over many years and had a distinguished career. He spoke to the girls of his war experiences and about the causes, combat and consequences of war.  He offered much wise advice and told girls that good leadership is about the ability to "do the right thing, in the right way and at the right time." His stories were captivating and acted as a catalyst for intelligent questions from the girls.

On his visit to school he was accompanied by his wife Priscilla and his daughter-in-law Claribel.
