The work of several Bolton School Girls is on display in the
foyer of Bolton's Magistrates' Court, after they received
commendations in the Magistrates' 650th Anniversary Competition for
the Borough of Greater Manchester.
Back in July 2010, Year 6 girls entered the competition in which
they had to create a written or artistic piece of work to
commemorate 650 years of magistrates' service. Most girls chose to
write a poem or design a poster. Anushka Basu, Emma Duper, Penny
Roberts, Rebecca Calderbank, Letitia Sermin-Reed, Olivia Porter,
Francesca Adams and Georgina Owen all received commendations for
their work and Daisy Forshaw was the overall winner.
The girls were Year 6 pupils at the time and with the exception
of Daisy have now moved on to Senior School. Daisy now attends
school in York. As part of their English/ PHSE programme the junior
girls have close links with local magistrates who visit the school
to teach the girls more about their role in the community.
