"Pupils are encouraged to volunteer, to lead, to perform, to try new things, to move outside their comfort zone and they emerge as fine, rounded, honourable young adults equipped to thrive and succeed wherever life takes them."

Girls Compete to be Magistrates

Friday, 13 July 2012

Two teams of Hesketh House girls participated in the Young Magistrates of the Year Competition at Canon Slade School, to commemorate the 650th anniversary of the Magistrates.

Namitha Aravind, Seren Davies and Melissa Cartwright made up one team and Georgina Crowther, Antonia Jameson and Emily Pike completed the second. Both teams were runners up in the competition scoring totals of 33 and 34 out of 36 respectively. The girls competed against seven other schools and sat as 'benches of magistrates', to answer all manner of questions about how magistrates work in the community and aspects of court practice and the law.
