Girls In Biathlon Semi Final

Tuesday, 01 February 2011

Bolton School girls represented the School at the weekend at the Northern Semi Final of the English Schools' Biathlon event held in Macclesfield.

The Junior Girls competed in a 500m running race and a 50m swimming race. In the Year 6 girls' event Grace Haskins came in 33rd, Hannah Stephenson 37th and Louisa Brophy (of Year 7) finished 40th overall. This meant that their team was placed sixth overall in the Year 6 Team competition, which unfortunately means that they will not proceed to the National Finals but congratulations are still in order for representing the school so well and for reaching the semi-final of the competition.

Senior Girls competed in a 1000m running race and a 100m swimming race, and in Year 9 of the girls' competition, Aimee Smith finished 6th, Katie Devine 37th and Isobel Faulkner 41st. This was enough to secure fourth place for the girls in the Year 9 Team competition. Year 10 pupil, Lydia Walker, finished in an impressive 2nd position overall in her age group. Lydia and Aimee will qualify automatically for the National final in March, and the other girls will wait to hear if they will be joining them.
