Pupils from Hesketh House competed in the National Swimming
Championships, taking on twenty four teams from all areas of the
country.
The girls had qualified to swim in both the Freestyle Relay and
the Medley Relay by recording very good times in the preliminary
round earlier in the year, and travelled to Ponds Forge Pool in
Sheffield to compete.
The Medley team swimmers - Tara Wallis, Havana Lloyd, Amy
Haslam, and Maddie Kennedy qualified for the final in
8th fastest time, and after an exceptional swim in
the finals, they were placed 5th in a time of 1.11
67.
In the Freestyle event, the team members were Havana Lloyd, Amy
Haslam, Paige Dobson and Maddie Kennedy. An amazing swim in the
heats put them into the final in 6th place in a time of
1.01.41. They really pushed hard in the finals but unfortunately
got themselves disqualified for a faulty take over.
It was a very special day and congratulations go to all the
girls for their efforts. To be the fifth fastest team in the Medley
Relay was outstanding.
