Medal Haul at Indoor Sportshall Athletics

Tuesday, 02 February 2016

A team of girls from Years 5 and 6 met with resounding success at the recent AJIS Indoor Sportshall Athletics event, bringing home a clutch of medals. This was the third year that Hesketh House has sent a team to compete in the competition and with ten girls being placed on the podium it proved to be the most successful year to date. The event, held at Robin Park Arena Wigan, saw pupils from North-West independent schools take part in a variety of indoor running, throwing and jumping events such as the Paarlauf, Javelin and Speed Bounce. Picking up a gold medal, Jade Sprott set a new AJIS record in the 3-lap event with a time of 39.74 seconds.

Mrs Higgins, the Sports Teacher who accompanied the group, said: "I am extremely proud of all the girls; not just for their performance but also for their outstanding behaviour and how well they represented the school. It is a very long day and some of the girls were only competing in one event. They were all extremely patient and happily kept themselves amused in a sensible manner.  Well done girls!"
