Pupils Prepare for Sale Sharks Rugby Tournament
Thursday, 24 March 2011
Year 6 pupils from Bolton School Junior girls and boys have been
training hard in the run up to the Sale Sharks Primary Tag Rugby
festival, which will be held at Bolton School on Wednesday 30th
March.
The pupils took part in a training session with Bolton Rugby
Development Officer Steph Veal who gave them a few pointers for the
tournament which will involve a mixed team of Bolton boys and girls
competing against 16 other local primary schools. Bolton School
have offered the School facilities for the event and Sale Sharks
players will be present to meet all the children and give out the
prizes. Steph said: "There is clearly some great talent in Bolton,
it was good to see the boys and girls improving and getting more
involved as the session went on."
The Sale Sharks Primary Link offers in-school tag rugby coaching to primary schoolchildren throughout the North West. Since 2001 over 15,000 children in more than 100 primary schools across the Trafford, Stockport, Manchester and Cheshire have received rugby coaching through the Sale Sharks Primary Link Scheme but this is the first time they have hosted a festival of this type.
The Sharks are due to play a ground breaking Aviva Premiership match against London Irish at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday 16th April (5.30 p.m).
