"Pupils are encouraged to volunteer, to lead, to perform, to try new things, to move outside their comfort zone and they emerge as fine, rounded, honourable young adults equipped to thrive and succeed wherever life takes them."

Tales and Advice from Adventure Cameraman

Thursday, 27 September 2012

National Geographic Cameraman, Leon McCarron, visited Hesketh House to talk to the girls about his life as an adventure cameraman.

In May 2012, Leon concluded a 3000 mile walking expedition, trekking the length of China from Mongolia to Hong Kong and filming along the way for a series that will be shown on National Geographic. Previously he rode 14,000 miles solo and unsupported on a bicycle from New York to Hong Kong.

Leon spoke about his adventures, in particular his 3000 mile walk through China. He told of his experiences on the trip including meeting the people and seeing the country on foot and of the problems he faced and lessons he learned.

Leon’s talk contained useful life advice for the girls - the importance of taking on challenges, managing risk taking, striving to achieve what we are capable of and making the most of life.
