"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

Year 3 Meet a Roman Soldier

Monday, 16 May 2011

Year 3 girls were taken back to Roman times with a visit from a Roman Soldier!

The girls got a taste of what it was really like to live in Britain over a thousand years ago through an interactive history presentation which gave them the chance to handle objects and artefacts from the period.

The key elements for Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum encourage teachers to find new and interesting opportunities to help children explore historical subjects and the presentation by Living History company, Lore and Saga, did just that.

'Roman' Gary Waidson of Lore and Saga said: "It is my aim to put flesh on the dry bones of history with lively and interesting presentations for schools in full and accurate costume. My presentations are supported by a large selection of carefully recreated artefacts from the periods giving the children a chance to handle objects and form their own impressions."
