Year 6 Brings 'Olivia' To Life
Friday, 21 June 2019
Pupils in Year 6 put on their annual drama production, which this year was the feel-good musical Olivia. A fresh take on Charles Dickens’s tale of Oliver Twist, the story charts Olivia’s progress from a downtrodden orphan to a star of the stage and features a host of well-known characters.
While exploring the world of Victorian London, Olivia befriends Eliza Doolittle from Pygmalion and My Fair Lady and gains the unlikely assistance of Oliver’s reformed associates Fagin and the Artful Dodger. The story also features cameos from Pygmalion author George Bernard Shaw, Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol, and even Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson! The whole of Year 6 performed their roles well and with a great deal of humour.
Filled with wit and catchy songs, and even featuring the opera’s traditional ‘fat lady’, Olivia was a huge hit and delighted audiences during both performances.
