Hesketh House Filled with Music for Festival
Tuesday, 04 February 2020
The annual Junior Girls’ Music Festival was a great opportunity for young musicians in Years 3 to 6 to showcase their talents across two days of performance. The rest of the school was given ample opportunity to enjoy the music and parents and family members were also invited to come along and watch.
The first day was dedicated to the piano, with classes for each year group. Adjudicator Cath Hilton was very impressed with the standard of performance in all four sessions.
The second day began with the Vocal Class. Instrumental classes throughout the day featured five different instruments: cello, clarinet, flute, violin and saxophone. There was also a Beginners Class for those just starting on their musical journey.
The Ensembles Class brought the Music Festival to a close with several piano duets and performances from the String Quartet, Flute Choir, Percussion Ensemble, String Orchestra, Hesketh House Band and the Choir. The adjudicator Karen Humphreys commented on the talent she had observed and the strength of music within the school.
Well done to all of the girls who performed as part of the Music Festival, and congratulations to those who achieved first, second and third place.
