Butterflies Receive Royal Letter
Tuesday, 10 May 2016
In honour of the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the Butterflies made an extra-special card to send to Her Majesty. The children were delighted to discover that they had received a letter back from Buckingham Palace.
Nursery manager Claire Thompson delivered the letter to the Butterfly Room to open it with the children. She carefully opened the envelope and showed everyone the card containing a picture of Elizabeth II, which thanked them for writing to her for her ninetieth birthday.
Mrs Thompson also read a personal letter from the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting, which was addressed to the children and began by thanking them for the “splendid” card and message they had sent. She also wrote that the Queen sent her best wishes and thanked them for their thoughtfulness in making a card and writing to her.
The children were very excited to hear from the Queen and her Lady-in-Waiting. All of the Butterflies took turns to carefully hold the card and look at the picture of the Queen. Some of the children shared stories of visiting London and seeing Buckingham Palace for themselves.
