Children at Bolton School’s Nursery celebrated Chinese New Year with lots of exciting activities. Some of the children dressed up in Chinese outfits for the day’s festivities, and everyone enjoyed listening to some Chinese nursery rhymes and music over the course of the day.
All of the children learned more about Chinese writing and tried to match up numbers with the matching Chinese symbols. The Tweenies created Chinese menus while in the Butterfly and Caterpillar Rooms the children created paper lanterns and decorated them using glitter and sequins. In the Butterfly Room, these formed a special display for the day, complementing the rest of the Chinese New Year decorations. Butterflies also played ‘Chinese New Year Bingo’ and tried to match up the right words with themed pictures.
The children also got to play with the fantastic Chinese dragon and really enjoyed ‘following the leader’ and roaring as they got into character!
Even the day’s meals were appropriately themed. The children tried delicious noodles and spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce and prawn crackers, and there were lots of empty plates afterwards.
The Chinese New Year celebrations were a huge success at the Nursery and all of the children had lots of fun all day.
The Nursery Class for 3 and 4 Year Olds also celebrated Chinese New Year with arts and crafts activities.
