Recycling Month at Nursery
Monday, 07 October 2019
Children at Bolton School’s Nursery have enjoyed lots of activities during their Recycling Month!
The children leaned songs and rhymes about recycling. A special Kids Rock session based around recycling helped the children to learn a new song, which they have repeated each week until the children knew all the words!
The children enjoyed a ‘little litter pickers’ activity outside and an indoor recycle sorting game. They also did some junk modelling with boxes of recycling that parents had brought in. The children loved painting the boxes and getting really messy! There were lots of adult-led activities each day, including making some autumn trees and using recycled bottles to print some pretty flower patterns. At lunch times, Nursery staff thought it was a nice idea for the children to scrape away their own dinners into a waste bag, opening up the opportunity to talk about waste.
Some of the rooms created recycling displays and tuff trays filled with many different recycled and recycling objects. Older children also looked at a light-up globe and talked about why recycling is important as well as reading new recycling books.
