Open Days and School Dates
Girls' Sixth Form Open Evening
Prospective students and their parents are invited to visit the school on our open evening which is held in mid-November each year.
Girls looking to join Bolton School from a local High School or another independent school should arrive at the Riley Centre Reception from 6.30pm onwards. There will be refreshments and then a talk by the Headmistress and Head of Sixth Form for all external candidates and their families at 7pm until approximately 7.45pm. After that, families will be taken on a tour of the Departments by one of the Sixth Form guides.
For current Bolton School girls and their parents, the Open Evening will begin with registration in the School foyer from 6.45pm onwards. Families are then advised to visit up to six Departments between 7pm and 8.15pm. At 8.15pm, the Headmistress will speak to current families about Sixth Form life and members of Year 13 will give an insight into their own experience.
For anyone who cannot attend the open evening, there is also a chance to visit the School on another day in November when Prefects will guide visitors around the campus. Tours, beginning at 9.20am, 10.10am, 11.25am and 12.15pm, will last about 40 minutes. Visitors can pre-book on a tour by emailing email@example.com
Visits can also be made at other times during term time.
For further information and an application form please contact Mrs Julie Holland on 01204 840201 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Once an application has been made, you will receive an invitation to come to an interview day. These interview days usually take place in early March. You will be asked to bring your school reports (including GCSE predictions), record of achievement and Mock Examination results with you. If you are considering Art or Technology as one of your options, you should also bring your portfolio.
Offers will be based on your interview with a member of the School Management Team, an interview with at least two Heads of Department (representing subjects you have said that you would like to take), your performance in an online test (designed to assess your potential) and your school reference. Any offers made at this stage will be provisional until the GCSE results are known.
If you live abroad and are unable to come to an interview in Bolton on these days, we will be happy to arrange an alternative date for you to visit or to arrange for your interview to take place via Skype. If necessary, we will liaise with your current school for you to take the on-line aptitude test under its supervision.
