Bolton School Senior Boys
'The Levels' is the name given to Bolton School's 32 acres of high quality sports fields. These include 4 football pitches, 3 rugby pitches, and cricket pitches and four outdoor all-weather nets. There are also facilities for athletics, including a grass track and equipment for jumping and throwing events.
The Gymnasium & Climbing Wall
The Boys' Division is equipped with a comprehensive gymnasium, where the boys learn skills such as balances, travelling movements, vaulting and other apparatus-based gymnastics.
The gym also has its own climbing wall. Boys are able to participate in a climbing programme, through which they develop their climbing and belaying skills.
Sports Hall & Swimming Pool
Bolton School Sports Complex and Swimming pool was opened in 1986. The Sports Hall contains facilities for indoor football, netball, hockey, basketball, volleyball, badminton, cricket, tennis and trampoline.
The 25m swimming pool provides facilities for water polo (including electronic scoring and timing), sub aqua, and indoor canoeing.
The Tillotson Pavilion & Fitness Centre
The Tillotson Pavilion and Fitness Centre was built in the 1950s thanks to the generosity of the Tillotson family. It now houses changing rooms and a Fitness Centre. This includes a multi-gym and well-equipped weights room, which is used as part of Sports and PE lessons as well as for sports team training.
The Leverhulme Pavilion is located on Chorley New Road, approximately 0.5 miles from the main school buildings. It was opened in 1982 by Lord Leverhulme. In addition to games changing areas and equipment storage, the building houses a lounge area and fully equipped kitchen.
Pupils regularly walk from the school to the Leverhulme Pavilion to take advantage of the sports facilities. The grounds contain six shale tennis courts, eleven hard tennis courts, a playing field for football and lacrosse, and netball facilities.
