Advice From Top Employers and Universities at Bolton School Careers and HE Convention
Wednesday, 23 October 2013
Hundreds of GCSE and A level students from across the borough attended the Bolton School Careers and Higher Education Convention, with stalls from many top employers and universities.
Year 9 to 13 students were given a valuable insight into the world of work at the convention as Bolton School welcomed a wide range of delegates from over 70 different companies, training boards and universities throughout England, who were on hand to advise upper school students about their future.
The convention gave students the opportunity to have individual consultations with employers and admissions tutors, to explore teaching styles and the facilities Institutions offer, and to gain advice on qualifications and/or training required for certain careers. They were able to gather information about the nature of the work involved and job opportunities, and to attend seminars on a range of topics from applying to Medical School to writing the Personal Statement. Many training providers were present at the event and some companies were offering apprenticeships. Students had the chance to explore careers they might not have considered before, explore gap year options and make useful contacts for work experience.
The School was delighted by the high numbers of students and parents who attended, and thankful to the employers who freely gave up their time to advise the students.
