Boys Enjoy Rugby Masterclass

Bolton School's First XV enjoyed a practice session with a difference when they were joined by the Sale Sharks team!  The squad comprised many famous rugby names and international players, including Dwayne Peel, Mark Cueto, England World Cup Winner Ben Cohen and an Old Boy of the school, Jack Forster.  The Sale squad was in training for their forthcoming game against Wasps on Friday evening.  Students undertaking AS and A2 PE also enjoyed watching the training session.

Earlier in the day, the Sharks had announced a forthcoming ground-breaking venture called Rugby at the Reebok, which will see them play an Aviva Premiership League game against London Irish at Bolton Wanderers' football ground on Saturday 16 April 2011 with a 5.30pm kick-off.  They are aiming to fill the stadium with 28,200 rugby enthusiasts.  Over the coming three years, they will hold one game a season at the Reebok.  Ordinarily their home matches are played at  Edgeley Park in Stockport.

Community Manager, Johnny Acheson, explained: "It is all about making Sale Sharks more well-known and accessible to the sporting community across the North-West.  We now have seven months to market the game and our aim is to sell out the Reebok."

Sale Sharks trained at Bolton School as part of their drive to get out into the North-West community.  They have held similar training sessions at Macclesfield, Bury, Caldy, Preston and Marple.
