"Pupils are encouraged to volunteer, to lead, to perform, to try new things, to move outside their comfort zone and they emerge as fine, rounded, honourable young adults equipped to thrive and succeed wherever life takes them."

First Eleven into County Cup Final

Wednesday, 03 March 2010

Bolton School's first eleven football team has won through to the final of the Greater Manchester Cup after overcoming St Bede's of Manchester in a penalty shootout.  Bolton took the lead through Jamie Grimshaw before missing a string of good chances that should have seen them finish the game.  St Bede's then struck back with two minutes to go - a free kick on the edge of the box was mis-hit and found its way into the back of the net.

The game then went into extra-time, with Bolton hitting the crossbar and then managing to put one over the bar from 4 yards.  Consequently the match had to be decided by the fate of penalties. Again!  However, this year Bolton managed to come out winners 6-5.

Head of PE, Mr Matt Johnson, said "I am delighted with the lads, they have done really well.  We look forward to the final."
