"Pupils are encouraged to volunteer, to lead, to perform, to try new things, to move outside their comfort zone and they emerge as fine, rounded, honourable young adults equipped to thrive and succeed wherever life takes them."

Boys Rock Iron Man

Thursday, 15 September 2011

Bolton School student rock band "Why Not?" helped to provide entertainment and motivation for the participants and spectators of Iron Man 2011, as the race passed by the School in July.

Year 10 pupils Sam Critchlow - lead guitar, Joe Keegan - lead singer, Giorgio Arnetoli - bass, Oliver Hill - drums and Shyam Dhokia - keyboards, played four 40 minute sets of classic rock tracks including You Really Got Me by The Kinks, Sweet Home Alabama By Lynyrd Skynyrd, Don't Stop Believing by Journey, Mustang Sally by the Commitments, All Right Now by Free, Get Back by the Beatles and Knocking on Heaven's Door by Guns 'n' Roses, along with some of their own songs.

The day was a great experience for the boys, who got an excellent reception from the crowds and we are sure their music drove the competitors on!
