Boys Show Gymnastics Grace Under Pressure

The whole of Year 7 gathered in the Boys’ Division Gym to spectate on this year’s Gymnastics Floor Exercises Final. Eight boys had made it through to the final, beating off competition from across the year group, and each had prepared a sequence of balances and travelling movements which best displayed their abilities.

PE Staff judged the closely fought final, scoring each boy out of a possible 35 marks. Sports Teacher Mr Chilton said: “There were some excellent routines and it was a difficult decision but, in the end, Tyler Bailey was awarded first place for his headstand to handstand winning move.” He won a cup and medal.

Ben Price was awarded second place and Ethan Smyth, the bronze medal.  All eight boys received a certificate for having made it into the final.

The gymnastics cup at Bolton School is over 100 years old.
