"Pupils are encouraged to volunteer, to lead, to perform, to try new things, to move outside their comfort zone and they emerge as fine, rounded, honourable young adults equipped to thrive and succeed wherever life takes them."

Bolton School 1st XV 27 v Hutton GS 12

Bolton School First XV produced their best performance of the 2010-11 season when they beat Hutton Grammar School at home 27-12.

Tries from David Flaherty, Ben Dilworth and a superb hat trick from Alex Davidson, gave Bolton  a comfortable win against their rivals from Preston.  On a perfect playing surface, buoyed on by a big crowd, Bolton's defence was the key with all the side making crucial tackles, constantly putting their bodies on the line in the contact areas.  The win puts Bolton through to the fourth round of the Daily Mail RBS competition - the largest school sports competition in the world.  The side will face a difficult away game at Stonyhurst College on 10 November.
