Golf Day Raises Bursary Funds

Friends and former pupils of Bolton School have raised £4,057 for the School’s Bursary Fund through their tenth annual Golf Day.

As ever, it was a closely fought contest with teams of four – including a group from the School – battling it out at Bolton Golf Club, where, for the second year in succession, the sun shone.  The eventual winners were Carley Daines.

The event, which was part of the Grand Reunion Weekend celebrations, was sponsored by Ravat and Ray Dental Care, with Barclays Bank also supporting the event by matching the raffle takings to contribute hugely to the total raised. Haslam Printers printed the programme free of charge. Raffle prizes were donated by Loofes Menswear, Cut with Love, Retreat, Dental Implants by Jonathan Kennair, Aristocats Kennels and Cattery, Café Italia, T Wright Wine, Seddon Construction Ltd and Colne Opticians. Bursary funds were raised from the entrants’ fees and through the raffle. Participants enjoyed a fine carvery dinner in the evening.

All of the funds raised go towards paying the fees for the next generation of deserving pupils. The amount raised is enough to fund a half bursary for one year. Julia Bates, the School’s Head of Development, said: "A bursary at Bolton School can transform a child's life - we are immensely grateful to all those who played or made a donation to secure this outstanding sum."
