Following their recent success at the Great North Big Band Festival, the Bolton School Jazz Band gave a nearly note perfect performance at the Music For Youth Regional Festival.
The band’s performance at the world’s largest youth music festival was described as 'outstanding' and 'amazing'. Music For Youth is a series of festivals that take place throughout February and March with over 50,000 musicians and singers taking part nationwide. There are around 70 Festivals held in over 50 different venues throughout the UK, which provide a unique opportunity for groups to perform to new audiences, listen to other groups from their area and get valuable feedback from the team of MFY Music Mentors. The Bolton School Jazz Band took part in the event at Haslingden High School, Rossendale. Each festival is as varied as possible so that the performers can watch a range of musical styles.
Director of the Jazz Band, Miss Fiona Berry, said: “Congratulations to the band today! Your performance at Music for Youth was nothing short of outstanding. Thank you to all members of the band and their parents for the ongoing support they give the band.”
Music For Youth is sponsored by ABRSM, the exam board of the Royal Schools of Music. ABRSM is committed to actively supporting high-quality music-making, learning and development throughout the world, and to producing the best possible resources for music teachers and students.
